About the Louisiana
GenWeb Project

In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index.

At the same time, volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the web page. The Louisiana GenWeb Project is an extension of the KY GenWeb Project. The person responsible for Lincoln Parish is David A Lewis. Please contact me, if you have a desire to add information about Lincoln Parish to this GenWeb page.

Lincoln Parish is a part of the GenWeb project for Louisiana. However, if a parish in which you are interested does not have a web page and you wish to participate, please contact the Louisiana state coordinator: Edward J. Hayden Jr.. If you would like to contribute your data, or are just curious, leave him a message and he will get back to you with the answers a.s.a.p!

What I am trying to do for the Lincoln Parish GenWeb site is put any links that relate to Lincoln on this page. I will evenutaly include links to any home page in Lincoln Parish. There are plently of web pages out there that have links to the State Library of Louisiana, Everton's, Cajon Clickers and what not. But my efforts aren't in linking you out of Lincoln but in keeping you in. My hope is to design this page so that any visitor can get to know what the place is like now and what it was like back then. Hopefully, as this web site evolves people who visit, will get a flavor for the beauty of the land and its people.

On a final note, I would like to put in a word or two for all the Louisiana parishes that are in need of volunteers. There are many states that have far less history and are smaller in population than our beloved Louisiana. Yet they have full participation in all of their parishes (or counties.) To any family historian out there that wants to help please contact Edward J. Hayden Jr..
