I am just about complete with my Historic Pages project. However there still remains a lot of work. Just about all of the images are of poor quality. This is because I photo copied the files at the Archieves in Baton Rouge. And a photo copy of a picture (and sometimes even a photo copy of a photo copy of a picture) just does not make for sterling imagery. If you have any pictures of the sites please email me so that we can make some arrangments.
Another disappoiment I found in the files was that many of the files did not contain the true story of the place. For example where are the names associated with the Vicksburg, Shreveport, and Pacific Depot? The Federal Blding file was nothing more than the history of the concrete but what about the stories with that building?
In any event I did get my wish and I did end up with more information about these places. But it clearly is not enough. I live in California and can't afford to visit Louisiana as often as I would like. Perhaps you can help. If you are familiar with any of these historic sites, why not create a web page about them? I would be glad to point people your way. If you would like to check out other National historic sites in the area visit the National Register of Historic Places in Louisiana.
