The present structure was built on the site in 1924 at a cost of about $40,000. The exterior of the building is little changed from its original appearance. Though the interior has undergone some improvement through the years, care has been taken to maintain its original atmosphere and personality.
Of particular note in the structure are the sanctuary, with its quaint yet rich use of architectural design; and the stained glass presentation of the Christ, which portrays Him in greatest serenity with light in evening.
The land on which First Presbyterian Church is located is the only property donated for religious purposes by Ruston founder Robert Russ which is still used for such purpose. As a group, First Presbyterian Church celebrated its own Centennial in 1984, being constituted itself in 1884.
