Biography

Chewing crayons, eating paste, drawing knock off copies of popular comics, 50 cents for that Garfield, 25 cents for all the times I've drawn a Disney character; quite a profitable business for a 6th grader.  Even my teacher put in his request, and I found myself absorbed and baffled by the strange mysteries of Vincent Van Gogh.  I have only recently reconciled with Mister Van Gogh, looking beyond the seeming torment of being forced to draw and copy, while the rest of the class had their history lesson.  All I knew, or understood at the time was that I was being excluded, forced to copy some dead guy's messy paintings, and who the hell was this Van Gogh--anyway?

I have since learned quite a bit about that Van Gogh character, and many others in the pantheon of workers of high art.  The True Illusionists, as I like to refer to them.  I have developed a keen interest in 20th century art and the different movements, especially, Dada and Surrealism.  From which two of my favorite and most respected influences are from: Marcel Duchamp and Joseph Cornell. I also have an appreciation for the Pop & Conceptualist movements. Other artists I admire are Jasper Johns, Edward Kienholz, Rene Magritte, Max Ernst, Dorthea Tanning, Joan Miro, Robert Rauschenberg, Joseph Kosuth, and Cindy Sherman, to name just a few.

I was born, raised, and still reside in the Antelope Valley, which sits somewhere on the California side of the Mojave Desert.  I'm presently attending our local junior college (AVC) as an art major.  I plan on transferring to one of two schools, Cal Arts, or Otis College of Art and Design.  It really comes down to which school I can get a scholarship and decent financial aid from in order to attend.  I intend to major in Fine Arts.

I have had works in at least 8 select student shows, three outside shows, and have had my own show featuring 7 pieces.  My works have also appeared in an independent film shot in the Antelope Valley called "Verses", which, to it's credit won at the Taos Film Festival. I was also an extra in the film. I also dabbled a bit in comics and inked two issues of an as of yet unpublished title called "Oneye". We shall see if the writer gives me credit for it, when it's published.

As for me personally, I like coffee, transistor radios, books on Babylon, listening to Aphex Twin, museums, traveling, associations, static, cellophane, resin, Alice and her fairytale friends, dressing up, shocking, engaging, and dazzling people, but above all I'm devoted to art.
